Agape Care’s Theresa Younis Receives 2020 Tamra West Leadership Award

Spartanburg, SC, September 21, 2020 – Agape Care chief administration and integration officer Theresa Younis has received the 2020 Tamra West Leadership Award from The Carolinas Center (TCC), a center for quality end of life care in the Carolinas, representing an extensive number of hospice and palliative care providers in North and South Carolina. The award is presented annually to someone who is a fierce advocate for regulatory change, education for hospice professionals and consumers, and works diligently to build relationships that advance high-quality hospice and palliative care delivery.

Theresa is responsible for cultural diffusion to enhance the quality of life of her team members and those they serve, and for promoting the company’s vision and values through the marketing and messaging of its brand. She has participated in several highly esteemed associations, including The Carolinas Center for Hospice and Palliative Care where she served as the chair of the board of directors.

Since joining the Agape Care team in 2001, Theresa has served in a variety of roles, from registered nurse case manager to director of nursing, executive director, chief operating officer, and chief executive officer. Prior to joining the Agape Care team, Theresa worked with Pruitt Health, Palmetto Health, and Lutheran Homes of South Carolina. Theresa’s work experience has afforded her the opportunity to work in many aspects of health care that are invaluable in her current position. Her background includes experience in compliance, contract services, fiscal responsibility, and leadership.

The Tamra West Award is named after Tamra West, who was TCC’s first South Carolina Program Director and served in this capacity for more than 15 years. As TCC’s ambassador, to build bridges for hospice and palliative care providers. This led to the protection of the SC MCD Hospice Benefit and regulatory changes for hospice providers in SC. Tamra’s leadership led to the implementation of several grant-funded initiatives related to advance care planning and symptom management education.
