Hospice Houses

Inpatient hospice care gives your loved one access to medical and emotional support 24 hours a day, in addition to providing pain management and other palliative treatments.

Hospice Houses

When a patient’s medical needs exceed what caregivers are able to provide and in-home care is no longer an option, we have three hospice houses available to serve across the state. These houses are a welcoming place where patients receive state-of-the-art medical care and pain and symptom management. For families, these spaces provide peace of mind and ease the burden of providing care. Each center offers a serene atmosphere where patients and families alike will experience unconditional love and compassion.

Inpatient hospice care gives your loved one access to medical and emotional support 24 hours a day, in addition to providing pain management and other palliative treatments.

Your loved one will be wrapped in a blanket of care at this critical time of need. The burden and anxiety of providing care will be completely lifted from family members, allowing you to be available for the emotional support of your loved one and each other. You will have peace of mind knowing that all of your loved one’s needs are being managed and that everything is being done to make them as comfortable as possible.

It is difficult to face having a loved one with a life-limiting illness, and it is not always possible to care for them within your family home. Specialized medical equipment, round-the-clock treatment, and experienced professionals may be medically necessary to be able to deliver the best in comfort and care.

The general inpatient (GIP) level of care includes 24/7 nursing care, room, board, and medical services and equipment that are necessary for your loved one to remain comfortable.

Other services provided by GIP care include:

Pain management and comfort. We do everything we can to make sure that your loved one is cared for with the dignity they deserve. Our experienced and skilled staff members are able to provide the palliative treatment necessary to control the associated pain and discomfort.

Emotional and spiritual support. We offer multicultural, faith-based services designed to support your loved one throughout their journey.

Counseling and training for family members. We know that supporting a loved one with serious illness can have a tremendous impact on you and your family. In addition to training family members in the best ways to interact with and care for their loved one, our professionals are able to offer counseling.

Care Based on Your Needs

Agape Care provides all four levels of hospice care — routine home care, continuous home care, general inpatient care, and respite care — to meet your individual needs, whether they’re physical, emotional, or spiritual.

If a caregiver needs a rest from their responsibilities, respite care can give them a much-deserved break and offer peace of mind while providing patients with state-of-the-art medical care. Under respite care, a patient may stay in a Medicare-certified facility or other inpatient center for up to five days.

Routine home care is provided in your loved one’s place of residence, whether that’s their private home, an assisted living community, a skilled nursing or long-term care facility, or another residential setting. Care team members make regularly scheduled visits, which are adjusted to accommodate any changes to your loved one’s needs. This type of care can be provided to residents of our hospice houses, including our Lowcountry Community Hospice House. Our Lowcountry team was proud to provide routine home care for World War II veteran Lloyd “Mac” McLawhorn. See Mac’s story here.

Comfort and Compassion

Every Agape Care hospice house provides compassionate and comforting care in a family-like environment. We combine the professional skills of doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, nursing assistants, medical social workers, and chaplains, along with our caring volunteers. Agape Care hospice houses are spacious centers, located in serene, natural settings. Our goal is to provide an environment where all can experience unconditional love, compassion, and dignity.
